In a recent report by Daily Post on Friday July 10th, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially presented Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, putting an end to months of speculation over the party’s vice-presidential ticket.
The announcement was made on Friday by the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, who disclosed that the party had formally received the presidential nomination forms of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima ahead of the next general election.
According to the party, the presentation of the nomination forms signals the APC’s readiness to seek a fresh mandate from Nigerians while reaffirming its commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda initiated by the Tinubu administration.
The nomination forms were submitted on behalf of President Tinubu by his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, during a ceremony held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja. The event attracted governors, senior party officials and key stakeholders from across the federation.
Among those in attendance were the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, alongside Governors Mai Mala Buni, Nasir Idris, Uba Sani, Babagana Umara Zulum, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and several other APC leaders.
The formal unveiling of Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate ends widespread speculation that the President might replace the vice president with a northern Christian in a bid to reshape the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
Party leaders described the event as a significant milestone in the APC’s preparations for the polls, expressing confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and its ability to build on the achievements recorded since assuming office.
The APC also reaffirmed its determination to strengthen its grassroots support, consolidate ongoing reforms and expand the implementation of its development agenda across the country.
With the formal presentation of the nomination forms, the ruling party has become one of the first major political parties to publicly confirm its presidential ticket, setting the stage for what is expected to be an intensely contested 2027 general election.
