Funke Adesiyan, the Nigerian actress, has stepped away from her political ambition to represent the Ibadan south-east/north-east federal constituency in the house of representatives.
In a statement shared on Saturday via her Instagram page, Adesiyan said her withdrawal follows “deep reflection and high-level consultations” with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She had previously declared her intention to run on the APC ticket.
The actress said her choice was guided by an “honest evaluation” of the “broader political landscape” and a desire for purposeful service over personal ambition.
