Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that the state government will support the academic journey of Master Michael Offorkaile, an Abia indigene who scored 367 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), emerging as one of the joint fifth-highest scorers in the country.
Speaking while receiving the student, his parents, and representatives of Grundtvig International Secondary School, Anambra State, on Monday, Governor Otti directed the Commissioner for Tertiary Education to work out the details of the support package. He also instructed his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to liaise with the family.
Otti said the gesture reflects his administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence, merit, and hard work. He expressed confidence that Michael’s outstanding achievement would inspire more young people in Abia and across Nigeria to strive for academic excellence.
