Lawyer and Deputy Director-General of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, has questioned the increase in service-wide vote allocations under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, alleging that more than ₦26 trillion was allocated to the fund between 2024 and 2026. Melaye raised the concerns during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Speaking during the interview, the former senator explained that the fund provides for the President’s role in its management, before tracing the increases recorded under the previous and current administrations. He stated, “It elucidates actually the special role of the President in the management of that fund.
So, like I said, in 2022, Buhari raised it to its highest in history, which was 2 point something trillion. Surprisingly, in 2024, this prodigal government raised it to 4 point something trillion.
Melaye further disclosed that the allocation rose significantly in 2025. “And I shouted at that time, I addressed a press briefing at that time, that what will necessitate an increase of about 2 trillion by the Tinubu administration in 2024. I didn’t know I was actually being stupid. In 2025, Tinubu administration raised the service-wide vote to 9 point something trillion from 4 point something trillion,” he said.
