Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has pledged to prioritise national unity, security, the fight against corruption and poverty reduction if elected President.
Obi made the commitments during a town hall meeting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as part of his nationwide grassroots sensitisation tour.
He said concerns raised by participants included kidnapping, banditry, corruption, government borrowing and the poor condition of hospitals, schools and other public facilities.
Obi also promised greater inclusion and support for persons with disabilities, alongside massive investment in education and healthcare. He pledged to establish at least one fully functional primary healthcare centre in every political ward across the country and work to reduce the cost of living.
