Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says the state is the only sub-national in Nigeria to have integrated mental health into the primary and secondary healthcare systems.
Speaking on Friday during the 2026 World Mental Health Day at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Barnawa, Kaduna, Sani said the state’s first cohort of 100 doctors, nurses and pharmacists from 10 general hospitals has been certified under the World Health Organization’s (WHO) mental health gap action programme (mhGAP).
