Halima Dangote, daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, has spoken about growing up in one of Nigeria’s most prominent business families and the ambitions she shares with her siblings for their father’s business empire.
Halima said she and her siblings have generally preferred to keep a low profile, particularly when interacting with the children of their father’s friends.
According to her, they do not consider themselves spoilt and often avoid revealing their family background when meeting people who may not know who they are.
She noted that life was easier before they became widely recognised, adding that the level of public attention that comes with their family name can sometimes be uncomfortable.
Halima also said she and some of her siblings are not particularly comfortable with social media and the exposure that comes with it.
Beyond maintaining a private lifestyle, she revealed that the family has a major ambition for the business built by their father.
“Our goal is to build our father’s company to $100 B,” she said.
Her comments highlight the next generation’s stated ambition to expand the Dangote business empire while maintaining a relatively low public profile.
