Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has responded to an X user, Larry, who criticised his involvement in a government he had previously criticised.
Larry made the comment in a post on X, saying he had lost respect for Omokri because of his role in the government. He also referred to Omokri’s previous criticism of the administration.
In a response to Larry’s post, Omokri said political positions can change when people encounter new facts or information.
To support his point, Omokri referred to Peter Obi’s political movements, including his previous association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his subsequent move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Omokri also referred to his previous criticism of President Bola Tinubu. In his X response, he said he travelled to Chicago with a camera crew to investigate issues concerning Tinubu’s academic history.
Omokri said the information he obtained during that investigation led him to reconsider some of his earlier views.
“I deal in facts. If I see facts that contradict my previously held beliefs, then I change those beliefs,” Omokri wrote.
He said changing one’s position after encountering new information should not be regarded as a weakness.
