Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has commissioned and handed over a newly built 42-room patients’ apartment to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).

The facility will provide accommodation for relatives and visitors of patients, many of whom travel long distances to access medical care in Maiduguri.

The project is part of Zulum’s ongoing interventions at UMTH. He previously provided ₦100 million for medical consumables and other needs and built 24 three-bedroom apartments for medical staff.

Zulum has also approved ₦1 billion to support kidney transplant and maternal healthcare services at UMTH, in addition to a ₦500 million intervention following the 2024 flood disaster.

UMTH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, thanked the governor for his continued support of the hospital and healthcare delivery in Borno State.
