Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi has visited traders affected by the recent fire at Eda Plaza in Jabi, Abuja, where more than 45 shops were destroyed.

Obi met with some of the affected traders as they cleared debris and tried to recover whatever could be salvaged from the ruins.

He expressed sympathy to the victims and pledged his support as they begin rebuilding their businesses and livelihoods.

Obi said the traders lost more than shops and goods, noting that years of hard work, savings and sacrifice had been wiped out by the fire.

He called for government to stand with citizens during difficult times, saying leadership should be measured not only by what government builds but also by how it supports people when they suffer major losses.

Obi prayed for the affected traders to receive the strength and resources needed to recover and restore their businesses.
