President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Photos of the meeting were shared by Punch Newspapers on its official Instagram page, on Thursday, 6th August, 2026, showing the two leaders during a formal engagement at the State House.
The visit is part of ongoing consultations between Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on issues affecting the sub-region, including regional integration, peace, security, and economic cooperation.
President Tinubu, who continues to play a key role in regional affairs, welcomed Dr. Touray as discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and the ECOWAS Commission.
The meeting comes at a time when ECOWAS is intensifying efforts to deepen unity among member states and address common political, economic, and security challenges across West Africa.
Dr. Touray, a Gambian diplomat, has served as President of the ECOWAS Commission since 2022. According to ECOWAS, his administration has prioritized regional integration, institutional reforms, and cooperation among member states.
