Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Tuesday a work-free day for public servants to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The governor said the decision is aimed at encouraging eligible voters, particularly civil servants, to obtain their PVCs and participate in the democratic process.
According to the state government, the work-free day will allow workers who are yet to collect their voter cards to do so without disrupting their official duties.
The move comes as preparations intensify for the forthcoming Osun governorship election, with residents being encouraged to complete their voter registration and PVC collection to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
