Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has said none of the politicians challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election can improve Nigeria, including his former running mate, Peter Obi.
Baba-Ahmed made the remark during an interview on the Mic On Podcast, where he advised Tinubu to prepare to leave office but argued that he should not hand over to any of the current opposition contenders.
According to him, the politicians challenging Tinubu have all been part of Nigeria’s political establishment at one point or another.
When specifically asked whether his statement included Peter Obi, Baba-Ahmed replied: “Including Peter Obi, I’m sorry to say.”
Baba-Ahmed and Obi ran together on the Labour Party ticket in the 2023 presidential election before later pursuing different political paths ahead of 2027.
