Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has dismissed a media report alleging that he criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and praised an opposition coalition, describing it as “false, fabricated, and malicious.”

In a statement, Buratai said the report lacked credibility and failed to specify where or when he allegedly made the comments attributed to him.

“The publication claiming that I commended the opposition coalition and said President Tinubu failed to meet expectations is completely false,” he said, challenging the publishers to provide evidence.

The former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing his continued support for the current administration.

“I remain a loyal, card-carrying member of the APC and fully supportive of this government,” he stated.

Buratai added that his over four decades in the military instilled in him a strong sense of loyalty to constituted authority, which he said remains unchanged in retirement.

He also pledged support for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity, particularly ongoing counterinsurgency operations across the country.

The retired general accused those behind the publication of deliberately spreading misinformation to damage his reputation, urging Nigerians to disregard the report.
