Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded fresh operational successes across Borno and Adamawa States, including the surrender of a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist fighter, the arrest of six suspected kidnappers and three suspected drug peddlers, as well as the recovery of weapons, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and 92 parcels of suspected Colorado.
On 13 September 2026, troops of 29 Task Force Brigade, operating under Sector 2 OPHK, in conjunction with Forest Guards, received a repentant BH/ISWAP fighter at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. The terrorist reportedly escaped from an enclave to abandon terrorism, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, four magazines, one IED, a magazine pouch and a bicycle. The suspect remains in military custody for further investigation and profiling.
In Adamawa State, troops of Sector 4 OPHK, acting on credible human intelligence and working with local hunters, raided a suspected kidnapping syndicate hideout around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area, arresting three suspects and recovering one Dane gun. Subsequent covert operations led to the arrest of three additional suspects, bringing the total to six. Preliminary investigations indicated that the syndicate operated around Soktu, Dumne and Maigero, with the suspects reportedly admitting involvement in several ransom-related abductions and other violent crimes.
Meanwhile, troops of 195 Battalion conducting logistics strangulation operations along the Maiduguri–Mafa road in Borno State arrested three suspected drug peddlers on 9 September. The suspects, identified as Haruna A. Usman, 39; Mohammed Haruna, 40; and Dauda Ali, 40, were intercepted while travelling in a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter truck with registration number Lagos AGL 199 XF. Troops recovered 92 pieces of suspected Colorado concealed inside cartons of television sets.
The latest operations highlight the sustained pressure by Operation HADIN KAI troops against terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements across the North-East.
