President Bola Tinubu has charged newly commissioned Nigerian military officers to uphold the Constitution, protect the nation and serve Nigerians with discipline, honour and professionalism.
Tinubu, represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, gave the charge on Saturday, September 26, during the Nigerian Defence Academy’s Combined Passing Out Parade for cadets of the 73 Regular Course, Short Service Course 49 (Army), Direct Short Service Course 34 (Air Force) and Branch Commission Course 3 (Air Force).
The President commended the NDA for strengthening its training to meet the demands of modern warfare, particularly through enhanced counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency training, technological innovation and international partnerships.
He urged the newly commissioned officers to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, honour, professionalism and selfless service as they begin their careers in the Armed Forces, reminding them that “the Nation is counting on you.”
The ceremony was attended by senior government and military officials, including Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of State for Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff and other Service Chiefs.
