Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has commenced the distribution of a combined ₦1.5 billion humanitarian support to 1,571 households affected by violent attacks across five local government areas of the state.
The intervention includes ₦1 billion donated by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu through the Renewed Hope Initiative and ₦500 million contributed by the Plateau State Government. The first phase targets verified families in Bassa, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu LGAs.
The funds were disbursed to beneficiaries at the Government House in Jos on Monday, September 21, 2026. Governor Mutfwang said the assistance would provide immediate financial relief, while a subsequent phase will focus on community recovery, rebuilding and restoring livelihoods.
The governor also pledged to work with affected communities, traditional institutions and security agencies to facilitate safe returns where possible and rebuild displaced communities. Beneficiaries were urged to use the funds responsibly to restore their livelihoods and support sustainable businesses.
