The Nigeria Police Force has announced a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime following the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of firearms and ammunition in Kaduna State.

According to the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), the suspects — identified as Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) — were arrested on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area following credible intelligence.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, one locally fabricated pistol, and 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations reportedly link the suspects to banditry and other violent criminal activities in Kaduna and surrounding areas, while efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the gang and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intensifying the fight against banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property nationwide.
