Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said President Bola Tinubu would only lose the 2027 presidential election if voting were conducted on social media, stressing that real electoral strength lies at the polling units.
Speaking during a meeting with a media mobilisation team in Kaduna, the governor noted that platforms like X, Facebook and Instagram often do not reflect actual voter behaviour.
“If elections were held on social media, Tinubu would lose,” he said. “But if votes are cast at polling units, he is likely to secure as much as 70 per cent.”
Sani argued that while online narratives can be influential, they rarely translate directly into election outcomes.
His remarks come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with strong digital engagement from supporters of Peter Obi since the 2023 poll.
In that election, Obi of the Labour Party gained significant visibility online, particularly among young and urban voters. However, Tinubu of the APC won the presidency with broader support across multiple states.
The governor also defended Tinubu’s performance, stating that the president has provided significant support to state governments, more than any of his predecessors.
Meanwhile, members of the media team inspected ongoing federal projects, including the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway, expressing confidence that it will be completed before the end of 2026.
