Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has issued a sweeping policy declaration against uncompensated state property seizures, stating that his administration will never demolish citizens’ homes for public infrastructure projects without first providing full, equitable restitution.

According to a report made by The Nation Nigeria on Sunday, 5 July, 2026, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani while speaking during the formal distribution of compensation checks to 122 households whose properties sit directly along the newly designed 15-kilometer Ring Road corridor, which connects the Danbushiya Junction to Danhono II in Millennium City, asserted that infrastructure expansion must not override fundamental human rights.

He also detailed how his Government deliberately halted engineering works on a major regional corridor to prevent forced displacements before transparent valuations could be finalized.

Governor Uba Sani went further to explained that while the state remains committed to building critical transport networks, his leadership draws a strict line at heavy-handed urban renewal, saying “At that point, we confronted not merely an engineering challenge but a moral obligation. The question before us was not simply how to advance construction, but how to balance the public interest with the rights and dignity of individual citizens.”

He also emphasized that the financial disbursements are an absolute legal and moral obligation rather than a government handout, aimed at ensuring displaced families can seamlessly relocate and rebuild their lives.

Governor Uba Sani also said “I recognise that change often comes with disruption and uncertainty. I understand the emotional and practical burden that relocation or adjustment may impose on families,” noting that progress loses its entire purpose if citizens are left stranded in its wake.
