Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commissioned the state’s second Smart School at Umuomaiukwu in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, describing the project as a major investment in the future of Abia’s children.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, July 22, Governor Otti urged pupils to remain hardworking and committed to their studies, assuring them that the government has provided everything they need to succeed academically at no cost.
The Governor said the Smart School is equipped with modern learning facilities, including artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality, adaptive learning technologies, 24-hour internet connectivity, renewable energy, CCTV surveillance, and a dedicated girls’ wellness room. He added that exceptional students would be rewarded with local and international scholarship opportunities.
Governor Otti also warned against the vandalisation of public school facilities, stressing that anyone caught destroying government property would face the full weight of the law. He reaffirmed that education remains the cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda.
Renowned writer and scholar Prof. Okey Ndibe, who attended the event, praised Governor Otti’s commitment to education, describing the Smart School initiative as a transformative investment that will help prepare Abia’s children for a globally competitive future.
