The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to modernising Nigeria’s Armed Forces through strategic international partnerships, local capacity development, technology transfer, and sustainable defence industrial cooperation.
The Honourable Minister of Defence, made this known during a working visit to Monaco alongside senior ministry officials, where the Nigerian delegation held high-level engagements with and its Nigerian partner.
The discussions focused on the proposed Multi-domain Hybrid Intelligence Shield (HIS) project aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture using advanced command, surveillance, intelligence, and integrated security technologies.
According to the Minister, the government is prioritising indigenous operational capacity while leveraging global expertise to combat terrorism, border insecurity, illegal mining, piracy, and emerging threats posed by unmanned aerial systems.
During the visit, the Nigerian delegation witnessed live demonstrations of radar detection systems, AI-powered threat identification, anti-drone interception technologies, mobile surveillance platforms, and integrated national command-and-control systems designed to improve real-time security operations.
The sessions also explored plans for national and regional command centres, rapid response units, and the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for military simulation, training, and doctrine development.
The Ministry noted that the initiative forms part of Nigeria’s broader defence diplomacy and strategic security engagement aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, inter-agency coordination, and national resilience in an evolving global security environment.
