Gov, Fintiri hires 4 SANs For Ambassador Jameel’s Suit

Some Reports indicate that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has hired the services four Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) to advise or probably prosecute the court case instituted at the Federal High Court Abuja, against the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria and INEC Nigeria by a PDP governorship aspirant in Adamawa state- Mohammed Jameel Abubakar-waziri

Ambassador Jameel sought the court’s order to restrain the PDP from excluding him from the Adamawa PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election- since the Appeal Panel consisting of 6 NWC and 5 BOT members has duly cleared him and certified that he’s qualified to contest the gubernatorial primary election slated for May 23, 2022

The reports also indicate that Governor Fintiri and his legal team have resolved to continue with the Gubernatorial Primary Election since the case filed by Ambassador Jameel didn’t in any way seek to stop the primaries- thus Fintiri will participate in the Primary Election as the sole candidate, while on the 26th of May 2022, the day assigned for the hearing of the case- Fintiri legal team will seek for the Court’s dismissal of the case for lack of jurisdiction. According to some ‘learned people’-Fintiri and his legal team forget that the screening exercise was conducted in Bauchi, while the rest of the matters in the issue happened in Abuja. Furthermore, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is not one of the defendants, hopes the court will listen to his legal team on that day.

As regards the holding of the Gubernatorial Primary Election on May 23, INEC’s response to the case will determine whether the primary election will hold or not. Though jurisdictions are controversial matters, the Federal High Court said: “controversies over its jurisdiction dogged every step of the Court. However, such controversies were finally settled with the enactment of Section 230(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1979. Section 231 of the 1979 Constitution was replicated in the Federal High Court decree (Amendment) 1991(60) which amended Section 7 of the Federal High Court Act (1973); and conferred exclusive jurisdiction on the court in relation to the subject matters covered by section 7 of that Act, as amended”.

Some insiders within the Fintiri circle hinted that it was agreed during the meeting with the legal team- Governor Fintiri should do everything possible to ‘buy off’ the Judges. Even ‘unlearned’ people know Ambassador Jameel has a clear case! No judge will destroy his hard-earned reputation.

Many political pundits were amazed that Fintiri who was removed as Adamawa State Acting Governor on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, by Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Abuja Federal High Court, will be that reckless with a delicate pre-election court case as Ambassador Jameel’s. Well, His Excellency AUF is a Nigerian state Governor- some of them are often intoxicated by political power
