Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate has announced that Nigeria has successfully reduced Tuberculosis mortality rates in the country by 63% over the past few years due to the strategic investments and sector-wide approach undertaken by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the 40th meeting of the StopTB Board in Bali, Indonesia, on Thursday, Prof. Pate informed global health leaders that President Bola Tinubu’s targeted mobilization of significant domestic resources has weaned Nigeria off of donor dependency and has enhanced local manufacturing in the country for products that meet the needs of Nigerians.
The Coordinating Minister stated that political will and deliberate investments in the health of Africa’s largest population has led to a historic turnaround in the sector driven by local solutions created to tackle local problems.
