Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered four AK-47 rifles, eight motorcycles and other items during clearance operations in Sokoto State. The military said the operations were conducted on October 15, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and improve security across the region.

According to the Theatre Command, troops of Sector 2 first engaged terrorists in a firefight at Waria Forest, where one suspect was neutralised. The soldiers subsequently recovered two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and other items from the location.

In a separate encounter at Sarma Village, troops engaged another group of terrorists, neutralising one suspect and forcing others to flee. A follow-up search of the area led to the recovery of two additional AK-47 rifles, six more motorcycles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition, a communication device and other items.

The military said the recoveries demonstrate its continued efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace across the North-West. The Theatre Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost, while appreciating the public’s continued cooperation with security personnel.
