Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged northern-based professionals in the creative industry to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday, September 30, when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja.
The Vice President said the appeal was based on what he described as the interests of fairness and the unity of Nigeria. He also assured the artists that the Tinubu administration would continue supporting the growth of the entertainment industry, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
Shettima said the North stood to benefit significantly from the administration’s creative economy initiatives, which he said were designed to empower local talent, preserve cultural heritage and create economic opportunities through the creative arts.
The delegation also pledged support for Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. The group appealed for greater government support for the Northern creative industry, including infrastructure and measures to improve the welfare of artists and other practitioners.
