Speaking during an interview on Afia TV, Nigerian businessman Prince Isaac Fayose stated that there are currently no billboards in Abuja promoting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, or Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Fayose said the current political environment appeared different from what Nigerians might normally expect before an election, observing that the limited presence of campaign materials for Obi and Atiku in major cities made the country appear as though it was preparing for a transition rather than an election, while expressing his view about the level of campaign activity and political visibility ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
In Fayose’s words: “There’s no single billboard in Abuja for Peter Obi. And there’s no single billboard in Abuja for Atiku. There’s no billboard in Lagos. They are not allowing us to campaign at all. It doesn’t even look like an election is coming. It looks like it’s a transition.”
