Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Rescue Three Victims and Recover 2,500 Tramadol Sachets in Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, rescued three abducted victims and recovered 2,500 sachets of Tramadol in separate operations across the state.
The police said a joint security team arrested 30-year-old Manu Alhaji Sani during a clearance operation around Kowagel in Dukku Local Government Area and parts of Bojude in Kwami LGA on September 8. The suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in several kidnappings across Dukku, Kwami and Funakaye LGAs.
Following the operation, the police said sustained pressure on the criminal group forced the suspects to abandon three abducted victims — a 44-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy — who were subsequently rescued. A motorcycle and three keypad phones were also recovered.
In another operation along the Liji–Biu Road, police operatives intercepted a Peugeot 406 and arrested a 37-year-old man, Mohammed Abdullahi, alias Babangida. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 2,500 sachets of 100mg Tramadol capsules.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Ahmed Chuso, said the command would sustain intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, banditry, illicit drug trafficking and other crimes, while efforts continue to arrest other members of the suspected kidnapping syndicate.
