President Bola Tinubu has signed the first National Peace Accord ahead of the 2027 general elections through Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, according to APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.
Yilwatda, who signed the agreement on behalf of the APC, said the party is committing to issue-based campaigns and peaceful political competition as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.
He said the APC wants the election to focus on policies, ideas, records and candidates’ visions for Nigeria rather than violence, intimidation or personal attacks.
The APC chairman urged party members, supporters and candidates to show restraint and respect their fellow Nigerians throughout the electoral process, stressing that citizens must be able to vote freely without fear or coercion.
Yilwatda said the party’s ultimate objective is to strengthen democracy and ensure Nigerians can participate freely and confidently while allowing the will of voters to prevail.
