The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), , has announced that commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, and commercial motorcycles (Okada) will no longer be permitted to operate within the Abuja city centre.

Wike said the decision was taken to address growing security concerns, describing both modes of commercial transport as potential security threats to residents of the nation’s capital.

The FCT Minister stated that the restriction forms part of ongoing efforts by the administration to improve safety, strengthen law enforcement, and maintain order within the city centre.

The directive is expected to affect commercial transport operators who ply routes within the affected areas of Abuja.
