Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday visited communities affected by recent flooding across the state to assess the impact of the heavy rainfall and evaluate ongoing drainage and emergency response efforts.

The governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, Special Adviser on Infrastructure Engr. Olufemi Daramola, Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources Engr. Mahmood Adegbite, and other senior government officials.

During the inspection, the state government assessed flood-affected areas, monitored the condition of drainage channels and reviewed measures aimed at reducing the impact of flooding on residents and critical infrastructure.

The visit comes after heavy rainfall caused flooding in several parts of Lagos, disrupting movement, damaging property and raising concerns over drainage, waste disposal and urban planning.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to improving flood control infrastructure and urged residents to avoid dumping refuse in drainage channels and to comply with environmental regulations to help reduce flooding across the state.
