Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, has expressed gratitude to Peter Obi and leaders of the party who attended the funeral of his late aide, DSP Zamani Tanko (Rtd.), in Nasarawa State.
In a statement shared after the burial on Saturday, Dickson said the late Zamani Tanko was laid to rest in his hometown, describing the deceased as a loyal and dedicated officer who served with humility throughout his time with him.
“This afternoon, we laid the mortal remains of my departed aide and brother, DSP Zamani Tanko (Rtd.), to rest in his hometown in Nasarawa State,” Dickson said.
He paid tribute to the late aide, describing him as “a diligent officer and a good man” who remained committed to duty until his final days.
Dickson also prayed for the repose of Tanko’s soul and asked God to grant his family, friends and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
“I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and grants his family and all of us the fortitude to bear this painful loss,” he stated.
The former governor thanked Peter Obi, whom he identified as the NDC’s presidential candidate, for attending the funeral. He also acknowledged the presence of the party’s National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, stakeholders, elders, candidates and other supporters who came to pay their last respects.
“I thank our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, CON, the National Chairman of NDC, members of the National Working Committee of our great party, our stakeholders, elders, candidates and all those who found time to attend and bid Zamani farewell,” he said.
