Sowore was released on Tuesday after Justice Muhammed Umar granted him bail in the sum of N200 million in a case instituted by the Department of State Services (DSS) over a social media comment in which he described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “crîmînal.”

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has unveiled his campaign-branded vehicle and resumed political mobilisation shortly after regaining freedom from Kuje Prîsøn in Abuja.

Sowore was released on Tuesday after Justice Muhammed Umar granted him bail in the sum of N200 million in a case instituted by the Department of State Services (DSS) over a social media comment in which he described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “crîmînal.”

As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the second surety must own landed property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Following his release from custody, members of the African Action Congress and several supporters gathered in celebration, singing the “Sowore2027” campaign song while displaying the newly unveiled campaign-branded vehicle.

Videos shared online showed supporters dancing and chanting solidarity songs in a renewed political mobilisation for Sowore’s 2027 presidential ambition.

Taking to his X handle after leaving Kuje Prison, Sowore described the moment as a continuation of the political struggle and declared that the movement backing his ambition remained strong despite his detention.
