The MUSAWAH for Youth and Development (Y-D) Initiative, sponsored by the Honourable Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has been formally inaugurated in Kaduna, with organisers announcing the successful mobilization of over 266 support and interest groups across the state.
The inauguration, which took place at the initiative’s headquarters on Sir Yakowa Way, Kaduna, attracted party leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, stakeholders, and representatives of affiliate groups from across the state.
Speaking during the event, the National Coordinator of MUSAWAH 4 Y-D, Amb. Dr. Polycarp Danladi Gankon, said the organisation had built a strong grassroots structure across Kaduna State within one year of its establishment.
According to him, the initiative has appointed five leaders in each of Kaduna’s 23 local government areas, nine mobilizers in each of the state’s 255 wards, and three observers across all 2,955 polling units.
Gankon further disclosed that more than 266 support and interest groups, including farmers’ cooperatives, women’s associations, student unions, and professional bodies, have completed registration and are now affiliated with the initiative.
He said the group has also established a National Identification Number (NIN) registration centre at its headquarters and is currently training three members for deployment as NIN enrollment officers across local government areas.
On strategic communication, the National Coordinator noted that the initiative sponsors the radio programme, “Mai Gyara Ba Ya Barna,” aired on Nagarta Radio and Salama FM, Kafanchan, to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and highlight the achievements of Governor Uba Sani.
Gankon explained that MUSAWAH 4 Y-D was established to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), campaign for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027, and provide empowerment opportunities for youths and women.
He expressed appreciation to the group’s Grand Patron, Gen. Musa, for his support and vision, describing him as the driving force behind the initiative.
The coordinator also commended the affiliate groups for their commitment to the organisation’s objectives.
“You did not come to join us; we joined you. Together, we are one solid structure,” he said.
The inauguration was attended by a representative of the Defence Minister, officials of the Kaduna State Government, APC leaders, traditional rulers, and representatives of the over 266 affiliated groups.
