The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, has urged Nigerians to remain united and support security agencies with credible intelligence to tackle insecurity across the country.

Musa made the call in Kafanchan after receiving the prestigious Southern Kaduna Grand Commander Award at the Southern Kaduna Festival, SKFEST 2026.

He said security agencies cannot defeat criminality alone without the active cooperation of communities.

“The Armed Forces and other security agencies cannot do it alone. We need the support of communities. When people provide timely information and report suspicious activities, it becomes easier to identify and defeat criminal elements,” he said.

The Defence Minister warned that criminals often rely on informants and collaborators within communities, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.

Musa thanked the people of Southern Kaduna for the honour, saying there is a special feeling that comes with being recognised by one’s own people.

He dedicated the award to farmers, teachers, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, security personnel, traditional rulers and community volunteers who continue to contribute to the growth of society.

The minister also assured families of kidnapped victims that efforts were ongoing to secure their release, stressing that those still in captivity had not been forgotten.

He urged young people to embrace education, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and innovation, while rejecting violence, extremism, drug abuse and other social vices.

Musa added that lasting peace, security and development can only be achieved through unity, collective responsibility and active citizen participation.
