Daniel Bwala, the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications to President Bola Tinubu, has reacted to the growing criticism of the current administration by opposition politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post shared on his verified X account, Bwala said Nigerians would “shake your head in disbelief” when they look closely at some of the people trying to take power from President Bola Tinubu, popularly known as BAT.
According to Bwala, many of the politicians constantly criticizing Tinubu are not motivated by genuine concern for Nigeria but by frustration over Tinubu’s emergence as president. He argued that attacks on the president’s personal life, political journey, and government policies are largely politically driven.
The presidential aide maintained that Tinubu remains one of Nigeria’s most experienced politicians and continues to face criticism from individuals who, in his opinion, cannot match his political influence and leadership record.
While expressing his views, Bwala mentioned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, and African Action Congress (AAC) leader Omoyele Sowore as some of the opposition figures frequently criticizing the administration.
He further stated that the actions and political style of some opposition leaders often leave many Nigerians questioning their intentions and readiness to govern the country.
In his words, “When you see the people wanting to take power from BAT, you’ll shake your head in disbelief.”
Bwala’s comments have since generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters of the ruling administration defending his position while critics argued that opposition voices are necessary in any democratic society.
The statement has also intensified political conversations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as debates continue over possible contenders, alliances, and the future direction of Nigeria’s politics.
