Murtala Garo has emerged as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State following his nomination and subsequent confirmation by the State House of Assembly.
The nomination was made by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after the resignation of former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, which created a vacancy in the office.
Garo’s appointment followed constitutional provisions that empower a governor to nominate a replacement deputy governor subject to legislative approval.
The Kano State House of Assembly screened and confirmed the nominee after assessing his qualifications, experience, and vision for governance in the state.
The development comes amid earlier political tensions, including claims by some stakeholders alleging external influence in the selection process, though the state government maintained that the nomination followed due consultation.
