Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has bid farewell to the first batch of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, calling for prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
The farewell ceremony was held at the Permanent Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi.
Correspondent Abduljalil Mohammed Bawa reports that Intending pilgrims from Aliero, Koko/Besse, Bunza, and Kalgo Local Government Areas were addressed by Governor Nasir Idris, urging them to be good ambassadors of Kebbi State and Nigeria throughout their stay in the Holy Land.
The Governor assured them of improved welfare arrangements, including better accommodation, feeding, and closer proximity to the Haram.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu Yaro, commended the Governor for his unwavering support, highlighting interventions such as payment of Hadaya, improved feeding, and comfortable accommodation in Madinah.
The pilgrims are to be airlifted directly to Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
