President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated 14-year-old Adeolu Oluwadamilola Oreofe on her emergence as the 2026 African Spelling Bee champion in the junior category.
Oreofe, a student of St. Lawrence Metropolitan College in Ado Ekiti, secured the continental title after defeating contestants from over 20 African countries at the competition held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The President described the achievement as a proud moment for Nigeria, noting that it highlights the importance of sustained investment in education, literacy, and youth development.
Tinubu also commended the young champion’s resilience and determination, pointing out her steady rise through previous competitions before clinching the top prize this year.
He further praised the role of her parents, teachers, and mentors in supporting her success, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and creating opportunities for Nigerian youths to excel globally.
