The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on the international community to stop misrepresenting the country’s security challenges, insisting that inaccurate narratives could hinder effective solutions.

She made the appeal while receiving former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rt. Revd. Justin Welby, at the State House in Abuja, ahead of an upcoming global interfaith dialogue on peace and conflict resolution.

Mrs Tinubu stressed that Nigeria’s security situation must be properly understood within its full context, warning that relying on one-sided accounts or external assumptions often leads to wrong conclusions about the country’s realities.

She also advocated for stronger inclusion of Nigerian security agencies in international dialogue platforms, saying their participation is crucial to developing practical and lasting solutions to insecurity.

The First Lady further emphasised the importance of interfaith cooperation and responsible communication in addressing violence, noting that peacebuilding efforts must involve both religious leaders and security institutions working together.
