Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru, a prominent political figure in Kaduna State, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement dated March 27, 2026, Ashiru said his decision followed careful reflection on the internal state of the party. He noted that ongoing challenges, including divisions and leadership issues, had made it increasingly difficult for him to continue active participation within the PDP.
Describing the decision as one taken in good faith, the former governorship candidate emphasized that it was not made lightly but with a clear sense of responsibility.
Despite his exit from the party, Ashiru reaffirmed his commitment to public service, stating that he remains dedicated to promoting unity, progress, and good governance in Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
His resignation adds to a growing list of political realignments in the state, amid wider internal crises within the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Observers say the development could have significant implications for Kaduna’s political landscape in the coming months.
