The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released the official timetable for the conduct of its 2026 nationwide congresses and National Convention as part of efforts to strengthen its internal structures and prepare the party for future electoral contests.
In a statement issued on Saturday , signed by the National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the exercise forms part of its constitutional mandate to renew and consolidate its leadership structures across all levels of the organisation.
According to the party, the congresses will be conducted in phases, beginning from the grassroots and moving progressively through higher levels of the party hierarchy before culminating in the National Convention.
The process, the statement noted, will start with congresses at the polling unit and ward levels, followed by local government and state congresses, where party officials will be elected to lead the party structures at the respective levels.
The timetable released by the party is as follows:
Polling Unit and Ward Congresses – Tuesday, April 7, 2026
Local Government Area Congresses – Thursday, April 9, 2026
State Congresses – Saturday, April 11, 2026
National Convention – Tuesday, April 14, 2026
The party explained that the nationwide exercise is aimed at electing new leaders, strengthening internal democracy, and repositioning the ADC for more effective participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.
It urged members across the country to actively participate in the congresses and ensure that the process is conducted peacefully, transparently, and in accordance with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
