THE Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Audi, has expressed condolences following the tragic death of Assistant Superintendent of Corps, Ogbodo Ene Victoria, who lost her life in an auto accident.
The incident occurred during a simulation exercise on “Tactical Rescue Operation,” part of the activities commemorating the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the National Headquarters of Corps in Abuja.
Audi conveyed his shock at the loss, stating, “I pray for the repose of her soul and ex9tend my deepest condolences to everyone associated with her, including all officers and men of the Corps nationwide.”
Following the accident, Victoria was promptly taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU, at Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for urgent medical treatment however, despite the doctors’ efforts, she sadly passed away.
To honor her memory, the Commandant General has directed a high-powered delegation from the Corps National Headquarters to visit Victoria’s family.
He said “We will ensure that she receives a befitting burial and that her post-life benefits in the service are fully honored”.
Audi encouraged NSCDC personnel to remain steadfast despite the unfortunate event.
“I urge all officers and men of the Corps to continue praying for our service and not to be deterred by this incident, which occurred during our World Civil Defence Day celebration,” he said.
The CG also stress the need for enhanced safety measures, stating, “This tragic accident could have been avoided with proper safety precautions and coordination during the simulation exercise.”
He pointed the importance of adhering to all safety standards and protocols to prevent future workplace hazards within the Corps.
