School shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota governor says

The shooter has been “contained” after the incident at a Catholic school on the first week back from summer break. US President Donald Trump said the FBI are on the scene.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Wednesday said police were responding to a school shooting in the major city of Minneapolis.

The City of Minneapolis said on X that the shooter had been “contained.”

“There is no active threat to the community at this time,” the city said.

Walz said he was briefed on a shooting at the Annunciation Catholic School “and will continue to provide updates as we get more information.”

“I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence,” Walz said.

There were no immediate reports on potential victims.

US President Donald Trump said he was briefed on “the tragic shooting in Minneapolis.”

“The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation,” he wrote on social media. “Please join me in praying for everyone involved!”
