Abuja, Nigeria — May 11, 2025

In a strategic move aimed at addressing internal challenges and strengthening party unity, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum convened a high-level meeting on Sunday at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The gathering brought together serving and former governors of the party for a robust deliberation on the PDP’s current state and its future direction.

The well-attended session concluded with the establishment of a seven-member committee tasked with preparing for a peaceful and consensus-driven National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting slated for May 27, as well as the upcoming national convention.

The committee will be chaired by former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Other members include Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), and Governor Peter Mbah (Enugu). Also on the team are Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former Governor of Abia State, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.

Speaking after the meeting, one of the attendees emphasized the group’s commitment to delivering on its mandate. “We hope to do our best in ensuring that the upcoming NEC meeting and convention are rancour-free and productive,” he stated.

The forum’s decision is seen as a proactive step in restoring cohesion within the party and preparing it for critical national engagements.
