FG Partners CIG Motors to Train 365 Youths in Automobile Maintenance Across Nigeria

Abuja, May 9, 2025 — The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CIG Motors Co. Limited to train 365 young Nigerians in automobile repair and maintenance, as part of the Federal Government’s Skill to Wealth programme.

The training initiative, which will span all six geopolitical zones, aims to empower Nigerian youths with hands-on technical skills. Training centers will be established in Lagos (South West), Enugu (South East), Akwa Ibom (South South), Plateau (North Central), Adamawa (North East), and Kaduna (North West).

The MoU was signed on Thursday, May 8, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja by the Honourable Minister, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the Chairman/CEO of CIG Motors, Chief Diana Chen.

Under the agreement, the Ministry will oversee logistical coordination, monitoring, and overall programme supervision, while CIG Motors will provide the training free of charge as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The partnership is set to last an initial five years, with an automatic renewal clause unless terminated or renegotiated six months prior to expiry.

Professor Yilwatda praised CIG Motors for supporting the government’s youth empowerment drive, describing the initiative as a boost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on job creation and poverty alleviation.
