GOVERNOR FINTIRI URGES VIGILANCE IN MADAGALI, WARNS THAT INSURGENCY THREAT PERSISTS

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged communities in Madagali and its environs to remain vigilant, warning that the threat of insurgency has not been completely eliminated. Speaking from his residence in Gulak while receiving Easter homage from stakeholders across the region, the Governor emphasized the importance of community alertness and swift reporting of suspicious activity. He cautioned residents against venturing into unsafe areas in search of daily necessities.

The Easter homage brought together traditional rulers, elders, religious leaders including representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Muslim Council, and Rev. Innocent of Kirchinga Pastoral Centre as well as the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), youth representatives from Gulak, Shuwa, Madagali Development Areas, and Hyembula District.

Traditional leaders commended Governor Fintiri’s developmental achievements, particularly in Madagali LGA, where key infrastructure such as bridges destroyed by Boko Haram and flooding are nearing completion. They expressed appreciation for the appointment of Dr. Ali Danburam as Ptil Madagali, describing him as a humble, unifying, and development-driven leader who is already restoring peace and progress in the area. They also thanked the Governor for improving traditional leaders’ salaries, which they said has enhanced their administrative effectiveness.

The Governor urged continued support for the newly appointed Ptil and called for sustained unity and vigilance to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.

Youth groups from the area expressed gratitude for the Governor’s youth empowerment efforts, including initiatives under PAWECA and the creation of new chiefdoms. They pledged to uphold peace, reject drugs and social vices, and support the leadership of the Ptil Madagali. Governor Fintiri, in turn, encouraged them to stay prepared for upcoming opportunities, advising them to keep their academic documents ready and be proactive in seeking employment as new recruitment windows open.

The Elders’ Forum thanked the Governor for his visionary leadership and infrastructural strides. They offered prayers for his continued success and expressed hope that his achievements would pave the way for a national assignment wishing him a future role as President of Nigeria.

The NCWS congratulated Governor Fintiri on his appointment as Chairman of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee and commended his commitment to education, including the payment of WAEC and NECO fees. They called for strengthened collaboration with his administration to deepen women’s empowerment, particularly for widows and vulnerable groups.

Governor Fintiri expressed heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and solidarity, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and visionary leadership. He assured all present of continued support and called for unity, vigilance, and collective action to sustain peace and accelerate development across Adamawa State.
