The May 27, 2022, Adamawa state All Progressive Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Primary Election was hotly contested, though very transparent, free, and fair.

Six contestants participated in the primary election- Former Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) Nuhu Ribadu, Member House of Representatives representing Ganye, Jada, Toungo and Mayo Belwa Federal Constituency, Abdul Razak Namdas, Former Chairman of the   Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) Wafari Theman and  Otumba Umar Mustapha a business tycoon.

Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani won the primaries with 430 votes, while Nuhu Ribadu came second with 288 votes. There is currently debate ongoing in Adamawa state on Nuhu’s 288 votes- some people say his team didn’t work well, while others say, Nuhu being as ex EFCC boos, refused to monetize the process, but believe that the delegates should be free to vote for anyone they feel that he or she has integrity and credibility to govern Adamawa state.

An investigation by pundits has revealed that one major thing that influenced and helped Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to garner the 288 votes was because of the recently conducted APC stakeholders meeting with all the APC chairmen from the 21 local government councils in Adamawa state- the meeting was organized by an APC stakeholder in Adamawa state- Mallam Jamil Yusuf who was also coroneted as ‘super ALGON chairman” by the 21 APC LGAs chairmen.
some delegates and party officials who were interviewed said that Mallam Jamilu Yusuf’s constants engagements, mobilization, and support to all the APC executives at the LGA level including the creation of an environment to discuss Adamawa APC’s problems at local government levels and proffer solutions were the major factors that facilitated the 288 votes secured by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu
