Umar Hashidu Should Be Confirmed As NEDC MD/CEO Nominee- By Sama’ila Moh’d

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the nomination of Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu as MD/CEO of the North-East Development Commission. However, the Mr. President has also sought the Senate clearance in a letter dated May 3, 2023 for the confirmation of some NEDC board members.

Dr. Hashidu’s scorecard when he served as Managing Director of the Yola Electricity Distribution is what makes his nomination by the President as MD/CEO of the North-East Development Commission. The person concerned has tirelessly changed the narrative of the Yola Electricity Distribution company, during which he boosted the morale of the body staff and the entire revenue generation effort, thereby making the company work without any sort of negative deviation. The staff were fully motivated by both intrinsic and extrinsic ones.

Notwithstanding, timely confirmation of Dr. Hashidu as the MD/CEO of the NEDC, would also help in the positive advancement of the body concerned, mulling over his massive achievement in the Yola Electricity Distribution Company.Dr. Hashidu has an age advantage, which could enable him to be energetically active in serving the NEDC as he has done in his past organisation. Sadly, there have been ups and downs in the confirmation of Dr. Hashidu as the MD/CEO of NEDC, which couldn’t yield anything prosperous rather than a complete setback for the NEDC.

Therefore, we, at Equity and Justice Forum of North-Eastern Nigeria, call on the authority concerned and all relevant stakeholders to allow the confirmation of Dr. Hashidu in order to make the NEDC operate effectively in view of the president’s nomination.

Hon. Sama’ila Moh’d Isa
(Wakilin Tsafi)
President, Equity and Justice Forum North-Eastern Nigeria.
