The Federal Government on Wednesday vowed to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent industrial accident that occurred at a steel plant in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State, on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, in a statement, expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the Sagamu Local Government and Ogun State Government, during this difficult time.
The Minister assured the public that the Ministry of Steel Development is taking urgent steps to ensure that such an unfortunate incident does not reoccur.
“The Ministry of Steel Development wishes to commiserate with the Families of the affected persons who may have either lost loved ones or suffered injuries from that accident and particularly Sagamu Local Government and Ogun State Government at this difficult time,” he said.
“The Ministry is currently putting in place effective modalities to ensure sanitization of the steel industry in Nigeria and shall immediately conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the incident and take necessary steps to ensure that this unfortunate incident does not re-occur.
“While soliciting the cooperation of all Stakeholders to join hands in mitigating any further unfortunate industrial accidents in the steel industry, we will continue to create an enabling environment for the development of the Steel Industry in Nigeria to catalyze thę industrial development of the Nation.”
